Richarlison hits out at manager in explosive interview
10 Mar 2023
Ever since his £60m move from Everton to Tottenham Hotspur in 2022, Richarlison has been on the fringes of the Spurs squad. The Brazilian forward has voiced his frustration at his lack of playing time, hitting out at the club’s management. He has also raised concerns about his future at the club.
Richarlison joined Tottenham with high expectations, having established himself as a key player at Everton in the previous three seasons. The 25-year-old was expected to provide Spurs with much-needed attacking firepower, but he has made only six appearances in all competitions since his move, starting just two of them.
‘I didn’t understand – I was playing well, we won against Chelsea and West Ham and suddenly I was on the bench. I played five minutes against Wolves, asked the reason and no one told me why,’ said the Brazilian. ‘They asked me to take a fitness test in the gym and told me I was going to start if I passed it. And I was on the bench, there are things I can’t understand. There was no explanation again, let’s see what he (Conte) will tell us but I’m not silly – I’m a professional that works hard every day and I want to play.’
The Brazilian’s comments have sparked a debate among Tottenham fans and football pundits alike. Some have criticized the club’s management for not giving Richarlison enough playing time. Others have argued that he has not done enough to earn a starting spot in the team.
Richarlison’s lack of playing time has also raised questions about his future at Tottenham. Some reports have suggested that he could seek a move away from the club in the summer if his situation does not improve.
For now, Richarlison’s focus is on helping Tottenham achieve their goals this season. The club is currently in a tight race for a top-four finish in the Premier League and still hunting for silverware in the Europa League and the FA Cup.
Whether Richarlison can break into the team and make an impact remains to be seen. However, one thing is clear: the Brazilian is determined to succeed and will not let his frustration get in the way of his ambitions.
